Genealogy of Abbé Lecoutre

Abbé Lecoutre’s ancestors

Over four generations

Paul Amédé LECOUTRE was born on 29 June 1830 at 62889 Wierre-Effroy. His father Jean Claude Marie LECOUTRE (1791-1873), married to Louise Marie Sophie HÉCART (1796-1862), was a farmer. Paul was the seventh of their nine children.

Paul’s grandfather Jean Claude François LECOUTRE was born in 1749 in 62165 Bournonville under the name Jean Claude François Le Coustre. It was he who came to settle in Wierre-Effroy, following his marriage in 1784 to Marie Anne Elisabeth BROUTTIER (1755-1785), a native of this commune. She was the eldest daughter of Christophe, a ploughman in Wierre-Effroy, his parents both having died before his marriage.

Jean Claude François LECOUTRE died in Wierre-Effroy in 1816 under the name of Jean Claude Lecoutre. In the record of his third marriage in 1798, he appears as citizen Jean-Claude Le Coutre. This is an illustration of the change of surname from LE COUSTRE to LECOUTRE at the time of the Revolution.

Jean Claude François LECOUTRE was the grandson of Philippe LE COUSTRE (1677-1736) and Jeanne POTTERIE (1677-1775).
